OWLE Award for Excellence in Performance

Detective Constable Bev Meehan
 
Detective Constable Bev Meehan received the Excellence in Performance Award by OWLE (Ontario Women in Law Enforcement) at a ceremony on May 1, 2009. The award recognizes Detective Constable Meehan's groundbreaking efforts since 2007 as a member of the Provincial Asset Forfeiture Unit.
 
Detective Constable Meehan's assistance to other investigative units has resulted in the courts forfeiting property and cash totaling more than one million dollars. Her ongoing efforts have also resulted in several million dollars worth of real estate, property and money restrained and still before the courts awaiting ruling.
 
Recognizing there exists strength in unity and in numbers, OWLE encourages women from law enforcement agencies throughout Ontario to collectively address common interests and concerns, including increased access to networking and professional development opportunities. OWLE was granted official affiliate status with the IAWP in 1997.
 
 

Terry Ryan Award - MADD Canada's Ontario West Region

Sergeant Derek Davis

Sergeant Derek Davis received the Terry Ryan Award for MADD Canada's Ontario West Region at MADD Canada's National Conference Awards Ceremony on September 26, 2009. The annual award recognizes officers whose commitment to service and ability to foster teamwork contribute to the prevention, apprehension and processing of impaired drivers.

Since joining Milton's District Response Unit in 2007, Sgt. Davis' dedication to traffic enforcement has led to the implementation of several beneficial initiatives, including the MADD / Halton Regional Police Service mobile, variable message sign, the purchase of leading-edge licence plate reading technology, and the adoption of a streamlined paperwork program for processing impaired drivers.
