Application Process

We are always on the lookout for talented men and women with a desire to make a difference to join our team.

All candidates vying for Police Constable positions within the Halton Regional Police Service will undergo a multi-stage selection process, including:

Stage 1: Pre-Interview Assessment:

Before applying to be a Police Constable with the Halton Regional Police Service, candidates must successfully complete the Pre-Interview Assessment Stages of the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) Constable Selection System, a standarized selection process administered for a fee by Applicant Testing Services Inc. to assess a candidate's suitability based on essential competencies.

The Pre-interview Assessment Stages include:

  • Police Analytical Thinking Inventory (PATI)
  • Written Communication Test (WCT)
  • Physical Readiness Evaluation for Police (PREP)
  • Vision and Hearing Tests
  • Behavioural Personnel Assessment Device (BPAD)

For candidates who do not meet standard on their first attempt for the PATI or WCT for the OACP Certificate of Results, the waiting period to re-test is three (3) months from their test date and six (6) months for each attempt after that. If a candidate has not met standard with the PREP on their first attempt, they are eligible to register immediately and retest within two (2) months of their test date.

Successful candidates are awarded the Ontario Chiefs of Police (OACP) Certificate of Results. Candidates must present a copy of the Certificate of Results upon application to the Halton Regional Police Service.

There is no fee to apply to the HRPS.
