The City of Burlington covers an area of 186 square kilometres and has a population of more than 164,000. To ensure residents and visitors receive the highest standard of policing services, Halton Regional Police Service operations are divided into distinct team areas with police officers assigned to each community within the city.
Patrol responsibilities within #3 District Burlington are divided among four platoons or shifts. Each platoon is led by one Staff Sergeant who is also responsible for an assigned team area.
The District Response Unit (DRU), under the command of a Sergeant, supplements the uniformed platoons by working exclusively on traffic-related issues and other identified community problems requiring a directed response.
Halton Regional Police Service #3 District Burlington operations are also supported by Sergeants, the District's Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB), civilian and volunteer staff.

Superintendent Joe Taylor began his policing career with the Halton Regional Police Service in September 1979.
Joe has served throughout the Region in a variety of roles including patrols, Criminal Investigations, Community Policing Support, operational command and administration. Superintendent Taylor assumed command of policing at #3 District in May, 2009. By having operational and support staff work in partnership with the community, Joe strives to enhance the safety and wellbeing of the residents and visitors of Burlington.

Inspector Dave Gwilliams

Inspector Dave Gwilliams began his policing career with the Halton Regional Police Service in June 1982.
Having served throughout the Region, Inspector Gwilliams transferred to #3 District in July, 2008. In his 36 years of policing, Inspector Gwilliams has garnered a wide variety of experience, including serving in Community Policing Support, Professional Standards Bureau and District Operations. Inspector Gwilliams is focused on building strong partnerships and close connections between the men and women in the Service and the community to ensure a safe and secure quality of life for all citizens. In his personal time, Dave enjoys golf, curling and cottage life.
