The City of Burlington covers an area of 186 square kilometres and has a population of close to 174,000 (2011 figure). To ensure residents and visitors receive the highest standard of policing services, Halton Regional Police Service operations are divided into distinct team areas with police officers assigned to each community within the city.
Patrol responsibilities within 3 District Burlington are divided among four platoons or shifts. Each platoon is led by one Staff Sergeant who is also responsible for an assigned team area.
Halton Regional Police Service 3 District Burlington operations are also supported by Sergeants, the District's Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB), civilian and volunteer staff.

Superintendent Joe Taylor began his policing career with the Halton Regional Police Service in September, 1979.
Joe has served throughout the Region in a variety of roles including patrols, Criminal Investigations, Community Policing Support, operational command and administration. Superintendent Taylor assumed command of policing at 3 District in May, 2009. By having operational and support staff work in partnership with the community, Joe strives to enhance the safety and well being of the residents and visitors of Burlington.

Inspector Brad Brand began his policing career with the Halton Regional Police Service in Burlington in 1984. Since that time, Brad has worked in a number of areas throughout Halton Region, including Criminal Investigations, Drugs and Morality, Intelligence, Emergency Services, and Professional Standards.
Brad is happy to return to Burlington and looks forward to building community partnerships and enhancing the quality of life for the city's residents and visitors.
