Residents of East Oakville Asked to be Extra Vigilant
Between the 18th of June and the 1st of July there have been three daytime residential entries and one suspicious male call in the areas of Cedar Grove Drive, Gloucester Avenue, Watson Avenue and Douglas Avenue in the Town of Oakville. The incidents have occurred between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and noon.
Entries are occurring through unlocked doors and only a small amount of jewellery is being stolen. The suspect rings the doorbell and knocks several times before he checks the residence for an insecure door. He has been confronted and observed on a couple of occasions and is described as follows:
Male, white, 40-45 years of age, short dark hair, tanned complexion, bit of facial stubble, 5’8” - 5’11”, medium build with a bit of a pot belly, and a European accent of some sort.
He was wearing dark pants, blue golf shirt, dark shoes and a “news boy” style fabric hat. He wore a black mesh type weight lifting glove on his right hand, and possibly wears glasses. He also has a noticeable limp in which he favours his right side. He was described by one witness as a possible stroke survivor due to the manner in which he swung out his right leg and held his right arm bent when he walked.
He was observed getting into the front passenger side of an older model dark green Chrysler or Plymouth minivan with unknown Ontario licence plates. No description available for the driver.
Residents are asked to watch for suspicious vehicles or suspicious persons in their neighbourhood, obtain a description and immediately report their observations to the police.
