The Halton Regional Police Service Criminal Intelligence Bureau is managed by Detective Sergeant Scott McLaughlin.
This group of senior detectives monitors the activities of members of Organized Crime groups and serves as a resource for Service members in such areas as physical and technical surveillance, intelligence analysis, gang activity,
hate-motivated crimes and witness protection.
A number of HRPS Intelligence Officers are also seconded to various provincial investigative bodies and task forces, including:
- One detective assigned to the Golden Horseshoe Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU). CFSEU is comprised of investigators from a number of muncipal and regional police services, the O.P.P., the RCMP and other investigative bodies dedicated to the investigation of offences committed by members of Organized Crime on a multi-jurisdictional level.
- One officer is a member of the Biker Enforcement Unit (BEU), a concerted effort by most of the major police services in Ontario to target Outlaw Motorcycle Gang members.
- One investigator is part of the Provinical Asset Forfeiture Unit that works to remove the profit from criminal activity.
- Another investigator is seconded to the Provincial Weapons Enforcement Unit (PWEU), a group focused on the illicit gun trade, and getting guns and their traffickers off the street.
- A supervisor assigned to the Repeat Offender and Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad, a new provincial group that tracks down and captures escapees and the most serious offenders.
