Child abuse includes sexual abuse, violence, physical/emotional abuse, neglect, abandonment, and situations placing the child at risk.

• 1 in 4 girls, and at least 1 in 10 boys, are sexually assaulted during childhood
• 67% of women with a disability report having been physically or sexually assaulted as a child
• Boys between the ages of 8 and 11 account for 42% - 44% of all sexual abuse allegations involving minor-aged children

The Halton Regional Police Service works with community partners to prevent and respond to child abuse issues.  These partners include the Halton Children’s Aid Society, school boards, municipalities, and victim services organizations.
