The Halton Regional Police Service Technological Crime Section provides expertise in obtaining evidence on the vast array of digital devices, such as computers and cellular phones, on the market today.
With new technologies being introduced every day, criminals are getting more sophisticated in their use of computers, cellular phones, digital cameras, scanners, card readers and other electronic devices to commit fraud, robberies, thefts, money laundering and the making and distribution of child pornography.
These devices can leave a digital trail that allows investigators the ability to gather evidence, identify suspects and victims, and solve crimes. The Technological Crime Section is an important resource for detectives involved in these types of investigations.
Officers in this section also support Service investigations involving the Internet, such as cases which fall under
Internet Child Exploitation.
